The FRC-9xyzV vector based Frame rate Converter constitutes a leap in the Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation technology for LCD-TV technologies.

The FRC-9xyzV provides a big system cost saving potential by enabling the frame rate conversion from 50Hz and 60Hz material directly to the new 200Hz/240Hz systems with a single chip.

As the trend to large screen LCD-TVs continues the FRC-9xyzV takes care of the two biggest problems – Movie Judder and Motion Blur- using the latest Trident motion-estimation and motion-compensation (ME/MC) technology. Additionally this technology is now also removing the disturbing Halos known from previous solutions. The new “Near Halo Free – NHF” technology provides the sharpest and clearest picture for the new generation of FPD-TVs.

The advanced functions of FRC-9xyzV includes 3DTV formatter that supports the HDMI 1.4a 3D TV format including frame packing and side by side 3D video structures. The MEMC engine performs the appropriate frame rate conversion functions in 3D TV formats to make the 3D video look as smooth as the 2D TV videos.

Furthermore, FRC-9xyzV supports advanced 2D LED backlight dimming functions that provides boost in the LED-backlit panel dynamic contrast performance while reducing the panel’s consumption.

Using a MIPS processor for on-chip control functions, and high-level commands the flexibility of the FRC-9xyzV is increased further and is additionally supported by built-in demo, and test patterns.
