TRIDENT ANNOUNCES
SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF INTERNAL RESTRUCTURING
Sunnyvale, Calif. — September 4, 2003:
Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRID),
a leading provider of semiconductor solutions to the multimedia
and digital television markets, previously announced that
it would merge the Company’s Digital Media Division
with Trident’s subsidiary, Trident Technologies, Inc.
(“TTI”) in Taiwan, to strengthen and extend the
company’s digital TV business.
Trident closed the transaction at the end of August and increased
its ownership in TTI as a result of the transaction from 68%
to 90%.
Going forward, Trident will continue to be actively involved
in overseeing the operations of TTI as well as focus on the
operations of Trident’s subsidiary in China, Trident
Multimedia Technologies (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., which will serve
not only as the focal point to promote Trident’s products
in China, but also as the primary resources to develop new
products outside the PC and TV spaces, such as those for cell
phones and PDAs, and other products in the consumer field.
