Trident Grabs The Gold at System Builder Summit

TRIDENT GRABS THE GOLD AT SYSTEM
BUILDER SUMMIT

Company Wins Both "Best Vendor" and "Best
Hardware Product" Awards

Sunnyvale, California, November 11, 2002:

Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRID)
today announced that it had captured both Best Vendor and
Best Hardware Product awards at the prestigious System Builder
Summit ('SBS') Europe™ held on October 21-23, 2002
in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for its XP4 Desktop family
of graphics processors.

For the Best Vendor award, Trident was first among three
nominees (Sony and IBM) and for the Best Hardware award, Trident
finished ahead of three other finalists (Intel, Sony and Ricoh).
According to show sponsor, this is the first time that a participant
at the show has won both Best Vendor and Best Hardware Product
awards in its debut appearance.

All nominations and awards were selected through voting
by the marketing, sales and engineering executives from over
110 attending system builders themselves, not the show sponsors.
These system builders had shipped a combined 12 million PCs
in Europe for the last 12 months. SBS Europe is an unique
show in the channel where only the participants are the judges.

"We are proud and ecstatic on winning both Best Vendor
and Best Hardware Product awards, which are certainly the
two most prized awards at the SBS Europe 2002. These two awards
mark the beginning of a winning streak that will see us capturing
many more awards for the XP4 product family and further demonstrates
our price/performance leadership in mainstream desktop PC
graphics," said Frank Lin, CEO and president of Trident.

"Furthermore, with our breakthrough CoolPower™
technology that replaces noisy active fans for quiet passive
heat sinks, the XP4 not only elevates performance graphics
system to a much higher level of reliability never before
made possible but also delivers state-of-the-art Microsoft
DX8.1/9.0 graphics functionality in complete silence, another
notable industry-first and a feat still unachievable by the
competition," said Le T. Nguyen, assistant vice president
of marketing for Trident.

The XP4 desktop product family provides hardware support
for Microsoft DX8.1/9.0 with a maximum power dissipation of
less than four watts. The top-of-the-line XP4 T3 enables graphics
card vendors and PC OEMs to build graphics cards with 128MB
of video memory for only $99 MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested
Retail Price) to the end-users whereas the XP4 T2 graphics
card with 64MB of video memory will reduce the end-user price
to a mere $79 MSRP.

The SBS Europe offered five categories of competition, including
Best Hardware Product, Best Software Product, Best Marketing
Program, Best Marketing Program, and the Best Vendor. The
Best Vendor category combines Best Product, Best Marketing
Program with the addition of Best Commi™ent to Customers
and symbolizes the kind of Vendor with whom System Builders
want to partner. Trident was nominated in every category except
Best Software Product because the XP4 is categorized as a
hardware product.

The System Builder Summit Europe™ is produced
by Vision Events®, a Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB)
company. It is the only Pan-European event where vendors,
service providers and international distributors can meet
the technical directors and platform designers of system builders
in Europe.
