Trident Microsystems
Announces Three-for-Two Stock Split

Sunnyvale, California, November 5, 2003:

Trident Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRID)
today announced that its Board of Directors has approved a
three-for-two stock split of the Company's outstanding shares
of common stock to be effected in the form of a 50 percent
stock dividend. The stock split will entitle each stockholder
of record at the close of business on November 26, 2003 to
receive one additional share for every two outstanding shares
of common stock held on the record date. The additional shares
resulting from the stock split are expected to be distributed
by the transfer agent on December 12, 2003. Trident expects
that its common stock will begin trading on a split-adjusted
basis on December 15, 2003. Following the payment of the stock
dividend, the Company will have approximately 22.4 million
shares outstanding, based on the number of shares outstanding
as of November 4, 2003.

All fractional shares resulting from the dividend will be
exchanged for cash at the fair market value of the Company’s
common stock based on the closing sales price per share on
November 26, 2003, as reported on the Nasdaq National Market
System.

If a stockholder is contemplating a sale of the Company’s
shares between the record date and the payment date, he or
she should consult a broker regarding entitlement to the dividend
shares.
