Trident Technologies Inc, a subsidiary of Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRID), and a world-wide leader in developing cutting-edge Digital TV technology for the consumer digital video marketplace, will demonstrate its HiDTV™ System-On-a-Chip device, and will offer a preview of the DPTV™SVP advanced digital TV reference designs for HDTV, HDTV-Ready TVs, LCD TVs, DLP TVs, projection TVs, and plasma TVs at the Consumer Electronics Show 2004 in Las Vegas.

Trident’s HiDTV™ device is the world’s first highly integrated system-on-a-chip solution that supports both the analog and digital video processing capabilities in a single device. It integrates a 32-bit MIPS microprocessor, a DSP accelerator, a MPEG MP@ HL video decoder, a programmable MPEG audio decoder supporting AC3, AAC and MPEG2 audio, a transport stream de-multiplexer that supports ATSC and DVB standard, a TDES and DVB common descrambler, a high performance graphic engine for EPG, and the newest generation of DPTV™ video engine. Trident’s HiDTV system-on-a-chip device is designed to provide the most integrated and comprehensive solution with a user-friendly HDTV development SDKs that enables Trident’s HDTV customers to provide HDTV, digital set-top-box and digital tuner box through fast prototyping and easy integration; thus shortening the time-to-market for HDTV products. Trident’s HiDTV™ system-on-a-chip solution will be shown at Trident’s 2004 CES suite in Las Vegas.

In addition to the HiDTV™ demonstration, Trident will showcase live demonstrations of the latest DPTV™SVP reference designs for LCD TV, PDP, and Digital CRT TVs. The DPTV™SVP video processor features the award-winning Digital Cinema Reality engine (DCRe™) technology, which includes an advanced 3-D digital comb color decoder, pixel-perfect motion adaptive de-interlacing, vertical and horizontal sharpness enhancement, object-based intelligent digital noise reduction, dynamic Average Picture Level (APL) feedback to enhance picture dynamic range, DETI engine providing color vividness and black and white extensions as well as LCD overdrive circuitry to improve the LCD panel response time. Trident’s proprietary DCRe™ technology delivers vivid cinema-realistic motion and still images for high-performance flat-panel LCD TVs, Rear-Projection TVs, Flat CRT, and Plasma display TVs applications.
