Trident Will
Showcase Its Next Generation DPTV™ Video Processor for
Premier LCD TV, PDP TV, And Flat Screen CRT TV Applications
at Berlin’s IFA

Sunnyvale, California. August 26, 2003:

Trident
Technologies Inc, a subsidiary of Trident Microsystems, Inc.
(NASDAQ: TRID),
and a world-wide leader in developing cutting-edge Digital
TV technology for the consumer digital video marketplace,
will demonstrate its new generation video processor targeted
for premier LCD TV, plasma display panel (PDP) TV, and flat
screen CRT TV applications at the upcoming IFA show in Berlin.

The burgeoning LCD TV market segment is projected to grow
at a significant 67% CAGR for the next several years according
to DisplaySearch’s LCD TV shipment forecast. DPTVTM family
video processors have garnered many industry acclaimed LCD
TV design wins from top-tier television manufacturers such
as Sony and Samsung. The current generation chip, DPTVTM3DPRO,
with its built-in 3D comb NTSC/PAL/SECAM video decoder and
advanced signal processing capabilities has established video
performance standards for the LCD TV industry. Now with the
introduction of the next generation DPTV™ video processor,
Trident intends to further widen the video performance gap
between itself and all the other competitors.

This new DPTV™ video processor’s video image quality
is a quantum jump over other competitors’ solutions. It contains
many advanced features to achieve cinema-perfect video images.
In addition, the new video processor has built-in demo modes
that showcases its advanced video features in a split screen
display mode, allowing viewers to compare the original video
image side-by-side with the enhanced video images. Some advanced
feature highlights are vertical and horizontal sharpness control,
black and white extension, overdrive function, media noise
reduction, and inverse color space conversion (ICSC) to convert
all RGB inputs into an enhanced YUV space.
