SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Trident Technologies, Inc. (TTI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trident Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRID – News), a worldwide leader in developing advanced digital TV technology for the consumer digital video marketplace, today announced that Funai Electric Co., one of Japan's leading consumer electronics manufacturers, is using Trident's SVP EX ten-bit video processor that features the Digital Cinema Reality Engine (DCRe™) to power its latest 42-inch plasma TV for the North American OEM market. The new model is now shipping in North American retail channels.
"We are extremely pleased that Funai, a leading Japan TV OEM/ODM with a very strong presence in the US TV market through its ODM strategy, has chosen our SVP EX ten-bit video processor with DCRe™ technology for its new plasma TV family," said Dr. J.H. Chang, president of TTI. "Funai's selection of SVP EX in their new lineup of PDP TVs underscores not only our continued successful penetration into a new display market, but also our growing momentum in the ODM TV business. Major TV manufacturers worldwide are seriously exploring relationships with traditional consumer electronics ODM suppliers to reduce flat TV costs and to expand the range of their product families. We have continued to build strong momentum, not only in top-tier TV OEMs, but also in many leading TV ODMs in a significant way," concluded Dr. Chang.

cinema-like motion video quality from any type of video source
material.
— Ten-bit, dual-channel scaler to ensure crisp images regardless of the
display resolution.
— Ten-bit, dual-channel color processor with blue-stretch, green-stretch,
skin-color correction, and white-balance control to offer vivid, bright

internally-developed designs of consumer electronics OEMs.
— Ten-bit display interface to support today's most advanced flat
displays.
— Advanced content-adaptive 3D noise reduction to dramatically reduce the
popping and crackling that is especially prevalent on today's LCD TVs.
— Enhanced horizontal and vertical controls that set a new level
in sharpness for advanced TVs.

objects that is common to many LCD displays.
— Integrated VBI slicer and V-chip/closed-caption/teletext accelerator to
support worldwide TV data and messaging needs.
